"Thanks Louisa" she hugged her "I didnt think you would." Liesl stood up, breaking the moment. "Now um. I have to change." They both smiled at eachother and Louisa left. She changed into a new outfit and went to Louisa's room before she went downstairs. "Louisa lets go down before-"
*Wheeeeeeeet*
Georg was coming up the stairs and everyone met in the hallway, lining up.

Liesl and Louisa were the last to join in the line. Their Father gave them a stern look.
"The next time I whistle I want you all to be here in no time," he said serious, putting his whistle down again.
the oldest girls nodded in agreement, knowing he was refering to them.
Georg turned and went to the dining room. The children followed him.

They all sat down and started eating.
"Father?" Gretl asked "Yes, Gretl?" "Did you fire Fraulein Josephine?" "No. She's leaving as soon as she can remove the toothbrush. She will be in town for a few days while the dentist works on her." "Great!" Gretl blurted out. Georg said sternly "What did you say, young lady?" "That...it's great the dentist was willing to take her. No one else would." Georg looked at her sternly and she said "Uh, Marta, you explain." "What Gretl means to say Father is that it's too bad she has to leave us. She was so enjoyable." She neglected to add "Because it's so easy to play tricks on her" "Liesl, until a new governess is found, you will be in charge of their education. Understood?"

She nodded to her father. She was used to being in charge. As much as it hurt to ask, she did anyway. "father-" Georg looked at her. "Have you sent for a new governess?" Liesl didn't want another one again, she was old enought to look after herself and her siblings. She only asked to be prepared.

"Not yet. Tomorrow I will." He looked over at his children and as his gaze reached each of them, they lowered their eyes to their food. Gretl's food slipped off her fork and as it was spaghetti, it was extremly messy. Kurt reached over under the table and brushed it onto the floor with his napkin. He glanced at his siblings. Georg sighed. "Liesl, take Gretl upstairs and help her change her dress. Something old this time. Gretl, you should really be more careful." Gretl nodded and got out of her chair.

Liesl nodded at her father and got out of her chair and went to the other side of the table. She took Gretl's little hand and the two walked upstairs.

They reached Gretl's room and Liesl helped her take her dress off. Gretl went through her closet and found a dress like Liesl's, only in her size. "I want this one!" she siad.

Liesl nodded and took the dress down for her. She smiled, knowing why she wanted to wear that one. "Arms up-" she said as she slid the dress over Gretl. She buttoned the buttons and straightened her hair again. "Much better" Liesl said.

"Now I look like you!" Gretl said proudly as they went downstairs and reented the dining room. She sat down again.

Louisa looked at Gretl, observing her dress.
"Haven't Father told Liesl to choose an old dress? Why did she let Gretl pick this one?"
Then she looked from her Father to Liesl and noticed the firm look he gave her. "He must be thinking the same," the blond girl concluded in amusement.
With a side look, Liesl realized that Louisa was grinning and, diverting her gaze from his Father's, faced her sister, as if thinking: "what are you laughing at?"
Louisa didn't change her expression, but this time she chose to look at her food, leaving Liesl invloved at her own thoughts.
